Lakewood - Azalea Golf Only
ONE GRAND BLVD POINT CLEAR, AL 36564
The Azalea course is currently undergoing a renovation and is expected to reopen in Fall of 2005.
Lakewood Golf Club at Marriott's Grand Hotel is open to anyone who enjoys playing golf in a 36 hole setting, full of rich history. Established in 1847, Lakewood Golf Club offers some of the finest golf in the South. The Azalea and Dogwood Courses showcase classical architectural features such as natural sand waste areas and Scottish bulkhead walls. Fairways weave around spring-fed lakes and 200 year old Magnolia and Oak Trees. The signature hole is the 14th on Azalea, a par five featuring a giant 10.000 square foot island green surrounded by a four acre lake. Both golf courses are fun to play for any skill level. There are three architects for these two courses: Perry Maxwell designed the original 18 in 1946. A third 9 was built in 1966 by Joe Lee and 4th 9 was added in 1986 by Ron Garl. Those two 9 were intergrated to make two 18 hole courses.
DIRECTIONS:From I-10 east, take Exit 38 (Malbis). Go north on Hwy 181 approximately 0.5 miles to entrance on the left. Follow signs to the clubhouse.
