Legacy at Alaqua Lakes
1700
Alaqua Lakes Blvd. Longwood, FL 32779
Tom Fazio, the decades most decorated golf course architect, himself
calls The Legacy Club among his very best efforts. The landing areas
are wide and the challenges posted are fair. Fazio threaded holes
through a thick, old-growth forest of towering pines, palms, cypress
trees, and moss draped oaks. The sites 158 acres of wetlands were
restored, to flank several of the holes.
Each individual hole is a masterpiece at The Legacy Club. The par
3 6th is a reverse image of Augusta National's 16th. The par 5 11th,
the tightest on the course, has a conservation area up the right
side. Eighteen is a par 4, that leads players out of the woods to
a tee, a lake, and a stand of trees it shares with the 9th. A natural
Florida sinkhole sits 60 yards shy of the green.
